Set on the edge of Bedwell Sound, Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge offers a version of luxury tied fully to place. The setting is dramatic, but the experience is shaped by more than the view.
The lodge sits within Clayoquot Sound, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for old-growth rainforest, remote inlets, and rich coastal wildlife. It stands on the traditional territory of the Ahousaht First Nations, part of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, and that context shapes the stay. Getting here means leaving the usual pace behind, by a seaplane flight or a boat passage across the sound.

The tents
At the center of the property is a collection of 25 white canvas safari tents along the shoreline and within the forest. The look draws from expedition-style lodging, but the interiors are built for comfort, with custom furnishings, local design details, and First Nations artwork. Categories range from Rainforest and Waterfront Deluxe tents to a Hillside Family setup.
Table, spa, and setting
The Cookhouse is the main gathering point, its daily menu focused on local, sustainable ingredients from Vancouver Island and British Columbia. Nearby, The Ivanhoe bar sits where the Bedwell River meets the Pacific. The Healing Grounds Spa runs along the foreshore with cedar hot tubs, a sauna, and Seaflora Skincare treatments built around glacial clay and Pacific seaweed. The whole property supports the landscape rather than competing with it.
