Whitepod Original
Whitepod Original
At Whitepod Original, the road ends at reception. From there you walk up a snowy path to your pod on the mountainside, about 1,400 meters up in the Valais Alps, looking out over the forest and the Rhône Valley.
The geodesic pods are spread across the property instead of grouped in one building, and the restaurant, sauna, and other shared spaces each have their own buildings. Breakfast, dinner, and a massage all start with a short walk through the snow, which turns out to be one of the best parts of the stay.
What the stay is actually like
Choose from Cosy and Deluxe pods, larger pod suites, or chalets for groups of six to eight. Each pod is warmed by a pellet stove and has comfortable bedding, a private bathroom, and soft lighting. A large window faces the forest, the mountains, or the valley, depending on where your pod sits.
On clear days you'll see the ridgelines and the valley below. When clouds come in or snow is falling, the view can shrink to the nearest trees, and it can change completely within a few hours. You hear the weather outside without giving up a warm bed.
When you arrive in winter, Whitepod hands out crampons for the walk up and the team carries your luggage.
Your days here
Have breakfast in your pod beside the stove, or walk down to Les Cerniers, the property's restaurant. Skiing and snowshoeing are the main ways to get out in winter, and the sauna and massage treatments are there for afterward. Or skip the schedule altogether: read by the stove and watch the snow pile up around the pod.
Les Cerniers serves lunch and dinner on a seasonal schedule. On a winter night in Valais, order the fondue. The walk back to your pod after dinner, with lights glowing among the trees and across the valley, is the moment people tend to remember.
Getting there and when to go
You can arrive by car or public transportation. There's free parking near reception, with electric-vehicle charging. If you're coming without a car, confirm the route and the final connection with Whitepod before you travel.
Pack warm layers and proper winter boots, since outdoor paths connect everything. There are no elevators or wheelchair access, and the snowy terrain can be hard going with limited mobility. Ask about children, pets, and your specific pod before booking. Massages and some experiences cost extra and may need reservations, and restaurant hours should be confirmed ahead if you plan to eat most meals on site.
